David Burke is a long-time collector of Cleveland art, haunting galleries such as the old CSU Gallery on Chester and Bill Busta’s Little Italy gallery since the early 1990s. He’s bought work by Douglas Utter, Don Harvey, Lori Kella, Chris Pekoc, Corrie Slawson, Claudio Orso, Cathie Bleck, Dexter Davis and Mark Howard, among others.
Many of his pieces are currently on display at the Yards Project Gallery in the Worthington Yards building in the Warehouse District, in a show on view through March 1 called Loving the Local: The Collection of David Burke. CoolCleveland.com writer Bruce Checefsky wrote about the show here.
This Saturday at the Yards Project Gallery, Bruce will be interviewing David Burke as he talks about how he goes about deciding what pieces to add to his collection. It’s free and open to all and a great chance to see the show, and ask the collector about anything you might see that interests you. Get more information here.
