Undoubtedly, many of you have already learned that EDWINS, the fine-dining restaurant run EDWINS Leadership and Restaurant Group to train people returning from prison for service industry jobs, is moving to the former Nighttown space in Cleveland Heights Cedar Fairmount neighborhood. That’s good news for the beloved space which closed in 2020 after 50 years due to the pandemic, and then, after being reopened in late 2023 by a local restaurant ownership group, closed a mere nine months later.
EDWINS closed its original Shaker Square location, serving its final meal on February 17, and will open its doors for diners at the new location on February 28. Reservations are now open.
Even better news for long-time Nighttown fans is that EDWINS is bringing back jazz — immediately (The previous owners said it might be back eventually, and only occasionally booked a local musician here and there.) It kicks off with versatile pianist Jackie Warren on opening night; she’ll be back the following night with her longtime musical compatriot, Latin jazz timbales player Sammy De Leon. In the near future, expect to hear such top-shelf local musicians as vocalist Evelyn Wright, pianist Joe Hunter, contemporary jazz ensemble The Synergy Band, and the jazz duo of pianist Dan Maier & bassist Kevin Muhammed. They’ve even booked their first special concert with jazz trumpet player Dominick Farinacci, a Cleveland native who now has an international career, and who has played Nighttime many times, starting as a teenager.

Brandon has done so very much for this community and reopening night town as Edwin’s space is just another example. Understanding that he brings a different food culture than what existed before, let’s recognize it’s not nighttown but an entirely new place in a beloved old space to fall in love with! So glad that music will be returning as a part of the experience there and we look forward to coming back to one of our favorite places to enjoy a different and wonderful vibe.
