Just keep your eyes open
Good weather this time of year is a bit of a mirage. But don’t let good/bad news/weather get you too excited. Around here, every week there’s a phantasmagorical constellation of offerings. Maybe it’s the incredible Midori appearing at Oberlin’s incomparable Finney Chapel. Or the 13th Kurenovanje festival, which the Slovenians throw to chase away the winter. Or the 55th anniversary of 15-60-75 The Numbers Band, marked by a career-spanning CoolCleveland interview with founder Robert Kidney.
As we envision a better world, it’s time to rally behind the LGBTQ+ community, to join with women activists who are in the leadership of resistance and voter education, to celebrate legendary Kent artist and musician Halim Al-Dabh’s 4104th birthday, to support the world-renowned multi-abled dance company Dancing Wheels, and then enjoy Cleveland Restaurant Week for the discounts and the delicacies.
CoolCleveland travel writer Claudia Taller visits Asheville, NC to support local businesses after their tragic hurricane. You can take a master class with master photographer Herb Ascherman. And Cleveland Arts Prize applications are opening this week for emerging, mid-career and lifetime awards. We can dream, can’t we?
