Two local classical music presenting organizations have joined forces for an upcoming concert. The Cleveland Chamber Music Society and the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society are hosting an evening of music called “Spanish Journey.”
The program brings together a quintet of musicians with international careers —soprano Vanessa Becerra, cellist Clive Greensmith, violinist Kristin Lee, pianist Soyeon Kate Lee and guitarist Jason Vieaux — to play a program of diverse works by Spanish composers, curated by Kristin Lee, with a focus on guitar, an instrument prominent in Spanish music. Among the pieces are Fernando Obradors’ 1921 Canciones Clásicas Españolas for Voice and Guitar; Joaquin Rodrigo’s 1951 Tres canciones españolas for Voice and Guitar; and Isaac Manuel Francisco Albéniz’s 1891 Mallorca for Guitar; as well as works by Manuel de Falla, Pablo de Sarasate, Joaquin Turina, and Enrique Fernández Arbós.
The concert takes place at Disciples Church in Cleveland Heights. Get tickets here.
