Once again, the Brite Winter festival, now in its 15th year, is on the move. It’s been on the West Bank of the Flats for many years. But the year it’s crossing the river and taking place on Old River Road on the East Bank.
One of the most positive pieces of news is that the three outdoor stages will be joined by two indoor ones for those who are averse to the cold. (They tell us that temps at past Brite Winters have ranged from 8-69 degrees! Currently, the weather report is saying 22-32.) Electronic/hip hop artist E-V, who has won national recognition for his ability to get a party started, is the main headliner. Other top-line performers include Jinari Kemet & the Black Jackets, The Vumms, Truss, King Buu, Chelsea Pastel, Benny Lava & the Guavas, Da Land Brass Band, The Michael Weber Show, Doug McKean & the Stuntmen and Wish Queen. Also on the bill: NicNacc, Cowboy Princess Brigade, Whatever …, Simon & the Apparatus, The Morning Bird, Pal, Pretty Pretty Awful, Will Cherry, Sam Hooper, Mr. Jeff, Shelby Olive, Unknownphrazes, Whats His Face, JetSet2zon6, Lolo Knows, Mikey Silas, Clare Feorene and School of Rock.
There will still be the popular firepits outside to warm your hands if your favorite band is playing outside, and food trucks to provide eats (including ice creams?!!) and a bar providing drinks, including coffee and cocoa for the kids. Yes, the event is kid-friendly — families mostly come down in the afternoon, with a vibe shifting to an older crowd as it gets dark. It’s also dog-friendly but make sure your four-legged companion is leashed.
Get tickets in advance here. (Yes, you can get them at the gate.)
