Apollo’s Fire Showcases “Virtuoso Brilliance” in Pieces by Vivaldi and Telemann

Apollo’s Fire, Cleveland’s Baroque Orchestra, is calling its next series of concerts “Virtuoso Brillance,” and it’s promising five three evenings and one afternoon of “fiery orchestral suites and concertos.” The “virtuoso brilliance” is always in evidence with this ensemble, whose musicians are all world-class. Among the featured virtuosi for these performances are recorder player Daphna Mor who will shine is Georg Philipp Telemann’s Suite in A Minor, part of an Apollo’s Fire concert for the first time. for the first time on the AF stage. And violinists Alan Choo (the ensemble’s assistant artistic director), Emi Tanabe and Chloe Fedor and viola de gamba player Hyunkun Cho will be featured double and quadruple concertos by Antonio Vivaldi.

The concerts featuring six Vivaldi and Telemann works will take place at First Methodist Church in Akron on Thursday February 6; at Rocky River Presbyterian Church on Friday February7; and at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Saturday February 8 and Sunday February 9. Each concert will feature a pre-concert talk with Mor and artistic administrator Edward Vogel an hour before the performance.
