In 2023, the Wayne Center for the Arts in Wooster hosted the debut season of a concert series “Wayne Center Presents,” in partnership with Ohio-based ESQYRE, which focuses on classical music performance and education programs.
The series offer monthly concerts running from January through May in its intimate venue, bringing mostly regional artists who have built national and even international reputations.
It opens in Sat January 25 with a performance by the duo of violinist Chad Hoopes and pianist Wu Qian performing music by Mozart and Cesar Franck. On February 15, busy freelance violinist Jinjoo Cho, who has performed with orchestras around thevworld while forming her ENCORE Chamber Music Institute in Cleveland, returns with a trio that also features her frequent collaborator, pianist Hyunsoon Kim, and cellist Max Geissler.
March 14 will also see a return visit, this time with the Theron Brown Trio, led by Akron-based jazz/classical pianist Brown, accompanied by bassist Jordan McBride and drummer Zaire Darden. Chinese-born, Manhattan-based Pianist Fei-Fei performs on April 18, and the series wraps up on May 3 with the New York City-based Escher String Quartet.
