Yes, things are going to get really bad for ordinary Americans who aren’t straight white affluent “Christian” white males. And many of us will be tempted to retreat into our cocoons.
But instead of that, it’s better to look for a small piece of the world where you can lend a hand. If reproductive rights are your thing (and they should be, since a woman’s control of her body directly impacts her economic well-being and that of her whole family), join other advocates at No Class for an Anti-Inauguration Day plant sale and fundraiser, with all proceeds benefiting Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, an organization that’s been under siege from murderous misogynists for years.
Keep in mind too that green, growing things are good for your health. Plants can cleanse the air in your house and help restore the balance of nature — and elevate your mood. And don‘t your need that right now?
Northeast Ohio plant lovers have donated plants for the sale, and other vendors will be present as well. There’ll be a terrarium workshop and a raffle for items donated by local businesses who are champions of human rights. And No Class is a safe space for all types of people, especially those whose demonization was misused as a path to power.
Admission is free and it’s an all-ages event. Come with kindness.
