Otter Man Returns to Geauga Park District’s West Woods Nature Center

Sat 1/25 @ 2-3:30PM

Look: I don’t know what the story of “Otter Man” is either, but if otters are involved, it can’t be bad! So when the Geauga Park District hosts a family-friendly program at its West Woods Nature Center called “Otter Man Returns,” you might want to check it out.

They promise “an educational, inspirational and truly original hands-on program for the whole family,” with chief naturalist John Kolar and naturalist Dottie Drockton will be on hand to share the story of how river otters have returned to northeast Ohio, to diverse locations such as Cuyahoga Valley National Park, downtown Cuyahoga Falls, and presumable the Geauga Park District. They’ll also talk about other members of the weasel family you can find in this area, such as minks and short-tailed weasels. The program will also include weasel artifacts such as skulls and pelts, a slideshow and trailcam footage taken in the Geauga Parks.

That program will take place indoors, but as the program is winding up, Otter Man will appear and take everyone outside to watch him disappear into the wild.

“Otter Man first appeared at a weasel program over 20 years ago and has only appeared a couple times since then,” says Kolar in the event press release, “so it’s a real treat to see this half-man-half-otter up close and in person!”

You’ll just have to go to see who or what Otter Man really is. The program is free and no registration is required. Go here for more info about all Geauga Park District programs.
