A whole new bunch of art will be debuting at Summit Artspace this Friday to kick off the year, with five new shows opening at galleries on the three floors of the building and other activities going on throughout the building as well.
In the Betty and Howard Taylor Main Gallery, the juried show FRESH: Soft Offerings will share artists’ take on the theme of “radical softness,” with awards announced at 6pm. Robert Wright’s dance-inspired work will go on view in the Intersections Gallery in Over, Under, Sideways, Down, where University of Akron dance students will do a 20-minute performance at 7pm.
You can also catch Mark Jarodewski’s Paperland in the Welcome Gallery, featuring black and white mixed media drawings; the group exhibit Milestones in the Forum Gallery; and Eric Tuck-Macalla’s Mutual Aid in the Horizon Gallery, with sculptures that address marginality.
Also on view are a social justice student exhibition and shows by resident artists Diane Anderson and Bobbie Tiedt Donohew.v Go here for more information about all these shows.
