Melt Bar and Grilled Says Goodbye With a Garage Sale and Chance to have a Final Drink

Fri 1/17-Sun 1/19 @ noon-6PM

For going on two decades, Melt Bar and Grilled was a beloved staple in northeast Ohio. Originally intended as a hip Lakewood bar serving grilled cheese sandwiches on the side, it became more known for its sandwiches, which came in a variety of iterations, some of them modest (“the Kindergarten”), others stuffed with ingredients.

Over the years, owner Matt Fish expanded the menu (there was even a vegan menu!) and opened other locations as far away as Columbus, all decorated with an array of pop culture photos and memorabilia, with much of it tailored to the specific location. But the pandemic, which hit many food and drink businesses hard, had an impact on Melt as well, and Fish began to close many of the locations until last year, he was down to only the original Lakewood one. He was promising to focus on that location, to revise and update the menu. Sadly, on January 1, he announced he was throwing in the towel.

This weekend, he’s having what he’s calling a Melt Garage Sale/Memorial/Celebration of Life. From noon to 6pm Friday January 17-Sunday January 19, you can come and say goodbye and purchase some of the decorative items, photos, Melt merchandise, serving ware and other items, and have a last drink— the bar will be open.
