Kent’s Standing Rock Shorts Film Fest Offers an Array of International Films

Sat 2/1 @ 7:30PM

Standing Rock Cultural Arts in Kent has been hosting its International Shorts Film Festival and Competition for more than two decades, and this weekend it returns for its 22nd edition., featuring a diverse array of films, each less than 15 minutes. The films come from all over the world.

This year, the festival features films from right here in Ohio, as well as Canada, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Croatia and India, on an array of topics. For instance, in Indian Pranav Bhasin’s film Taylor’s Version, we’re told that “two men realize they’re grappling with their love lives by posing to understand Taylor Swift.” Torii, by Canadian-Ohioan Martin Gerigk, is a meditation on the traditional Japanese Shinto gates. And Oregon’s Eric K. Delehoy offers Cowboy Boots, a story about a gay Nebraska cowboy’s visit to a gay club in San Francisco.

This year’s featured artist is Tristan Crowe, who won last year’s People’s Choice Award.

The event takes place at the Kent Stage. Go here for a complete roster of films and tickets.
