Sat 2/1 @ 8PM
The monthly Bainbridge Swing Dances, taking place at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls, are a great chance for all sorts of people to have fun, learn some dance steps, hear some great live music and meet some new people.
Each dance starts at 8pm with a lesson so you’ll know all the basic steps. Regulars are always eager to help the newbies.
At 9pm, it’s time to hit the dance floor and dance to live music, provided by a live regional band that plays music with a danceable beat. This month, that’s the Radio Rhythm IDOLS, led by multi-instrumentalist Paul Kovac, who has led country/bluegrass bands such as Hillbilly Idol for decades, and guitarist/vocalist/keyboard player Carrie King and featuring young Akron honky-tonk guitarist/vocalist Cory Grinder. This ensemble draws on a wide range of music with a danceable beat, including western swing, ’40s and ’50s R&B, rockabilly and Great American Songbook standards.
Come as a single, a pair or a family, and don’t worry if you didn’t bring anyone: in this type of dancing, people change partners all night long. Admission is $15 at the door, $10 per child or $40 per family. Get more information here.
