Sun 1/5 @ 7PM
Northeast Ohio has several well-known period music groups, but smaller ensembles keep popping up as well. For instance, there’s Trobár, a Cleveland-based group which specializes in medieval music., founded in 2017.
Its upcoming program extends the yuletide season with Make We Joy! A Medieval Twelfth Night Festival, presented at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights. It will recreate an early English holiday season with music from the 13th through 16th century, with tunes ranging from deeply holy and mystical to boisterous and celebratory, capturing the many moods of the season. Musicians include Trobar co-founders Allison Monroe (voice, vielle, rebec, psaltery) and Elena Mullins (voice, harp, percussion), percussionist Allen Otte, oboe player Debra Nagy and singer/woodwinds player Sian Ricketts.
Yorecraeft Productions will be enhancing vibe of the evening with a theatrical presentation of medieval games, dances, treats, and wassail. Go here for tickets.
