Tue 1/7 @ 6-7:30PM
A good way to distract yourself from the bad things that will soon be happening in Washington D.C. is to focus on good things you can get engaged with here. And if you’ve got a passion for promoting urban infrastructure that’s less dangerous and more accommodating to all types of people and transportation, not just cars, this is a good time to check out the work of the nonprofit advocacy organization Bike Cleveland and think about becoming part of their team.
They’re making it easy and welcoming. They’re hosting a series of free online training session on a variety of topics, this week through the end of march. You can join them this Tuesday January 1 to learn about power mapping — who to target who has the power to make changes. On Tuesday February 4, the topic will be winning advocacy strategies, featuring organizers from colleague groups BikeWalk KC and Bike Pittsburgh. On Monday February 24, they’ll address using public data for transportation strategy; on Tuesday March 4 tactical urbanism and street painting will be covered; and on Monday March 24, they’ll conclude with a session explaining what NOACA, the multi-country northeast Ohio planning group does.
All sessions are from 6-7:30pm. They’re free and open to all, and you can sign up for as few or as many as you like. Go here.
