Sat 12/7 @ 10AM-10PM
You’ve got all day to stop down to Loganberry Books on Larchmere and help one of Cleveland’s most addictive browsing spots celebrate its 30th anniversary. The expansive store, which features room after room of both new and used books on an array of topics, is hosting a twelve-hour event that includes a flock of author signings, talks about books, live music and special activities for both adults and kids.
You can meet authors such as former Plain Dealer columnists Connie Schultz and Regina Brett, Paula McLain, poet George Bilgere and graphic novelist Derf Backderf, who will also give a “Brief Comics History” talk. Other talks will cover “Dickens in America,” “How to Defend Books and Why,” and “Extreme Books.” Live music of the acoustic variety (jazz, classical, global, fingerstyle guitar) will be provided by Hashim El Raman, Sororii, George Foley, Brian Henke, the Gene Epstein Trio and Global Connections. There’ll also be special activities such as bookbinding tutorials, “bookish” tarot readings, Build-a-Poem with Bilgere, typewriter “type-in” and story time with Nanny Patricia.
It’s all free. Get more info and a schedule here. It’s also a great time to browse Loganberry’s expanded holiday gift offerings in Otis’ Old Curiosity Shop.
