Cleveland is brimming with world-class jazz musicians of all generations, from fresh-out-of-school rising stars to seasoned veterans. One of the latter is jazz/global music drummer/percussionist Jamey Haddad, who became interested in percussion instruments from around the world while growing up in Cleveland, He left the area to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston and then settled in New York where he built a career, playing om hundreds of albums and becoming a permanent member of Paul Simon’s touring band.
He moved back to Cleveland in the early 2000s to join the Oberlin Conservatory faculty, while continuing his international career. And because he’s here, music lovers have frequent opportunities to hear him perform with various musicians he’s met over the years. This week he’ll be at the BOP STOP with a trio, featuring Cincinnati guitarist Brandon Coleman and bassist Ian Ashby, as well as “special guests” — given his network you know they’ll be hot!
