It’s the Second Big Weekend for Holiday Markets

The first two weekends in December are the biggest for holiday markets and this year is no exception. If you didn’t get your shopping done last weekend — and who gets it all done that early? — this weekend offers a bunch of great opportunities.

The biggest of course is the 20th annual Cleveland Bazaar Holiday Bazaar, which sprawls throughout multiple floors of 78th Street Studios. In addition to Cleveland Bazaar vendors, dozens of the resident businesses, galleries and artist studios are open for the event, many of the with guest vendors in the spaces. So you’ll have more than 150 vendors and artists to check out on Saturday December 14 @ 10am-9pm and Sunday December 15 @ 10am-4pm. Yes, there’ll be food trucks because you’ll definitely need fuel.

The other big market this weekend is the Screw Factory’s three-day event. The Lakewood building features multiple floors of artist studios and small businesses which open their doors to visitors, and a couple of large event spaces packed with guest artists offering any kind of handmade item you can think of. It’s open Friday December 13 @ 6-10pm, Saturday December 14 @ 10am-6pm and Sunday December 15 @ 10am-3pm.

Also in Lakewood, and not too far from the Screw Factory is Mahall’s 20 Lanes concert club, which is hosting its first Christkindlmarkt on Saturday December 14 @ noon-10pm. It’s a market in the style of traditional European holiday markets with more than 30 artisans and vendors in multiple rooms, beverage stations and comfort foods. There will also be Christmas Cosmic Bowling and Santa pix. There are two vendor shifts so if you come later you might see different vendors than early in the day.

Way on the other side of town, Stella’s Art Gallery in Willoughby kicks off its holiday art show on Friday December 13 @ 6-9pm with its Maker’s Market when you can buy pieces directly from artists, and the gallery is waiving its commissions.

As part of Coventry Village’s Winter Wonder Day, the Grog Shop and B-Side will again be hosting their Jingle Bells Holiday Market with more than 40 vendors selling mostly affordable items and small giftables.  They’ll be open for business from 11am-5pm, the bar will be open and there will be music.

If your weekends are too busy and you miss the markets, don’t forget that both Heights Arts in Cleveland Heights and BAYarts in Bay Village have expanded holiday shops packed with work of all types by area artists, and both are open seven days a week until Christmas.

All these events are admission-free.
