On Wednesday December 4, M.U.S.I.C., a local nonprofit that finds performance opportunities for rising young classical musicians, presented a free program of light classical and holiday music at the Cleveland Music of Art’s Ames Family Atrium.
Now it’s performing the same program at the Church of the Western Reserve in Pepper Pike as a fundraiser for its work. It features several potential future world-class musicians including including violinist Maude Cloutier, sax player Perry Roth, pianist Alexander Kotritsa and soprano Catherina Carrington.
Together they’ll perform a program of accessible and seasonal short pieces, including excerpts from Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty ballets, “The Swan” from Camille Saint-Saëns’ The Carnival of the Animals, a selection from J.S. Bach’s Coffee Cantata, the Mozart piano Trio “Sleigh Ride,” and arrangements of Antonio Vivaldi’s and Felix Mendelssohn’s “Winter,” plus waltzes, vocal works and more.
