One of Cleveland’s greatest assets is its lake, and the subject of how to enhance and maximize it has long been a large part of the civic conversation, especially since — unlike Chicago where most of the lakefront is protected for public use — there is a long history of misuse.
In recent years Edgewater Park has undergone some serious upgrades, and now the conversation has shifted to the downtown lakefront (they’ll get to Gordon Park and the east side lakefront when hell freezes over). With clutter such as the football stadium and Burke Lakefront Airport as impediments with uncertain futures, a so-called Lakefront Master Plan has been percolating, once again focusing on business, tourism and upscale amenities over every-day Clevelanders. Is this your vision for the lakefront too? Come hear what they’re proposing at the next Happy Dog Takes On discussion, co-sponsored with the City Club, when it takes on the Cleveland Lakefront.
Panelists include Downtown Cleveland’s Senior Director of Business and Real Estate Development Drew Crawford; the city of Cleveland’s Senior Advisor for Major Projects Jessica Trivosanno; and North Coast Waterfront Development Corporation Executive Director Scott Skinner. Abbey Marshall of Ideastream Media moderates.
It’s free and open to all.
