Thu 12/19 @ 7-9PM
Tracey Thomas first hit the local music scene as the “It Girl” of Akron’s new wave scene fronting Unit 5 from the late 70s to the mid 80s. She had a comeback as a singer/songwriter in the mid 90s, and since then, has been present in some form in Akron-area clubs. Currently she performs with four other women over 50 in the rock band the Crones and in the last decade, she’s been working with pianist Tom Longfellow doing jazz and blues standards.
She’ll be back at Jilly’s Music Room in Akron, a sort of home base for her, to perform some of those jazz tunes made famous by artists such as Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald, as well as some distinctive twists on holiday tunes and some instrumentals. Admission is free.
