Dance in the New Year with the Bainbridge Swing Dance

If you don’t like to take New Year’s Eve sitting down, and events revolving around drinking aren’t your thing, the monthly Bainbridge Swing Dance has just the event for you: a special New Year’s Eve party focused around dancing. And not just swing dancing — different segments of the evening with be dedicated to swing, contra dancing and waltzes with a lesson before each segment so you can feel confident out on the floor, whether you’re a beginner or experienced dancer.

Carol Copp will call the contra dance from 6:30-9pm, followed by waltzing from 9-10pm. Finally, partygoers will swing in the New Year with swing dancing conclude with swing dancing from 10pm-12:30am. As usual, the music will be provided by live musicians, in this case an all-star lineup of some of the area’s outstanding players including Bob Frank, Bill Lestock, Ray DeForest, Scott Flowers, Bob Corlett, and Will Craig.

The evening will start with a finger-food potluck at 6pm where guests can socialize and enjoy treats brought be others. Beer and wine will be allowed in moderation after 10pm but this is a night for dancing not drinking! As usual, no partner is needed; part of the fun is the all-evening partner swapping and getting to dance with new people.
