The Cleveland Pride Band was founded back in 2003 and became regulars at LGBTQ+ events such as Pride under the name the Blazing River Freedom Band which it adopted in 2007. The all-volunteer group, made up of LGBTQ+ musicians their allies, has had a post-pandemic growth spurt, with new musicians, higher profile venues and the new name it adopted last year. Don’t expect professional-level chops — that’s not the deal here. It’s about enthusiasm, inclusivity and community spirit. Their concerts are aiming to offer a fun evening for all.
And their upcoming show at the Maltz Performing Arts Center, called “Happy Holi-Gays,” should offer heaps of fun as they celebrate the season with familiar carols and pop tunes. And it’s likely they won’tr mind if you si ng along. Get tickets here.
