Akron soul-infused rockers Church of Starry Wisdom describes themselves as a “retro-futuristic goth-classic rock band” and “an ensemble of musical griots whose songcraft emphasizes storytelling in modern parables.” “They sing songs of life, death, sex, murder, love, hate, and the Chaos that crawls between,” they continue. They often collaborate with performance and visual artists to enhance their shows with multimedia elements and describe their shows as “theatrical cereeonies.”
They’ll be doing that when they kick off Cleveland Public Theatre’s three-weekend run of special holiday performances with their show, Black Rose Xperience. Their music will be linked by what they call “an immersive cinematic narrative” about a fallen civilization: a dystopian America, perhaps similar to the one coming down the road at us. They say there’s also “redemption” so that’s good. Go here for tickets.
