Wed 12/25 @ 7:30PM
Christmas night is typically slow in the local bars, club and restaurants with most closing to let their staff have a day to spend with friends and family. One place that’s always open however is the Beachland, where Cleveland’s long-running (40 years!) blues/swing/R&B/early rock & roll ensemble Blue Lunch presides over its annual X-Mas Night Latke Party.
With homemade latkes (Jewish potato pancakes) added to the Beachland’s regular menu, the guys will be celebrating the first night of Hanukkah by rocking some lively, horn-driven, danceable tunes, with the nine-member ensemble joined by some special guests, as they often are. This year, two great harmonica player/vocalists will be blowing up a storm and singing some tunes onstage, along with the Blue Lunch’s frontman/vocalist harmonica player Pete London: Hank Mowery and Tom Moore. While Moore, who hails from Indiana where he frobts Little Frank and the Premiers, has guested previously on several occasions, this will be the first time for Grand Rapids, Michigan’s Mowery, a veteran bluesman who leads the Hawktones.
