Bainbridge Swing Dance Steps into the New Year with Rachel Brown

Sat 1/4 @ 8-11PM

After an indulgent holiday season, sitting around and socializing with friends, eating and drinking, it’s time to get moving and get the rust out — at the monthly Bainbridge Swing Dance at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls.

Each month, this all-ages, family-friendly event features an hour-long dance lesson so people who’ve never done any swing dancing will feature comfortable out on the floor, and experienced dances brush up and help out the beginners. Then at 9pm, the musicians hit the stage for two hours of dancing to some of the best live music in the region. To kick off the year, it’ll be Rachel Brown and the Beatnik Playboys, a quartet of seasoned musicians who play countryfied Americana with a hint of jazz. You’ll hear echoes of everyone from Patsy Cline to Sarah Vaughan in Brown’s soulful throbbing voice as she produces rip-roaring sounds on her keyboard. You won’t be able to sit still – which is the point.

Come with your significant other, bring the family or come alone — you don’t need to be paired up because dancers change partners all night long. Admission is $15 per person, $10 per child or $40 per family, check or cash. For more info, go to bainbridge-swing-dance-3.
