While it’s certainly common in rock & roll, it’s relatively rare to find a classical music artist whose adept at both piano and vocals. But American soprano/pianist Chelsea Guo is one of those rarities. A Juilliard graduate, she’s won a raft of “young artist/rising star” honors in the last five years and begun to tour extensively in the U.S. as well as China and Europe. Her 2021 debut album, Chopin in my Voice, featured classical from Frederic Chopin’s noted piano repertoire, as well as two of his songs and an aria from Gioachino Rossini’s La Gassa Ladra.
Guo will be performing at Tri-C Metro Campus Auditorium as part of Tri-C’s Classic Piano Series. She’ll be performing some Chopin, of course, his Nocturnes, Op. 62, Nos. 1 & 2, as well as selections from Pauline Viardot’s 6 Mazurka’s de Chopin, Gabriel Fauré’s Mandoline, Après un rêve, Ballade, Op. 19, and selections from Maurice Ravel’s Miroirs.
The concert is free. Go here to make a reservation.
