Quartet of Veteran Cleveland Jazz Musicians Performs at BOP STOP

Wed 11/13 @ 7PM

One of the great things about Cleveland’s jazz scene is its diversity of amazing talent at all stages of development, from students lately out of its many music programs to master musicians who have been making music for 40, 50 or even 60 years.

On Wednesday November 13, the BOP STOP will be presenting a trio of the latter: experienced musicians any town would blessed to have, dubbed the Uninvited.

They include percussionist Jamey Haddad, who has been in Paul Simon’s touring band for decades; and drummers Carmen Castaldi and Joe Tomino. All three moved away for many years — Haddad and Tomino to New York, Castaldi to Las Vegas, before returning to the local music scene. They’re joined by sax/wind instruments player Howie Smith, professor emeritus at Cleveland State University who chaired the Jazz Studies department from 1979-2006. All four have performed with too many big-name players to list as well as with countless small jazz ensembles.
