Animals are such a blessing, and a household with pets just seems warmer somehow. Most people thing of cats and dogs when they think of house pets, but then there’s ferrets — adorably slinky, cuddly critters which aren’t weasels, no matter what Bucky Katt, the cranky Siamese in the “Get Fuzzy!” comic strip, thinks. Sadly, some people who decide they don’t want them, let them outside, not understanding that these are domestic animals who can’t fend for themselves in the wild. That’s where Avon Lake-based Ferrets Unlimited comes in, fostering and adopting out these homeless ferrets
You can help them out and learn more about ferrets at their open house and fundraiser at Paws By the Lake, 33757 Lake Road, Avon Lake (across from Avon Lake Animal Clinic). You can meet and pet actual ferrets, hear about their care from a veterinarian, get information on fostering, adopting and sponsorship, enter raffles, buy pet-related items and enjoy some light refreshments.
