In mid-September, Tanya Kaiser announced that she was closing her gallery, Kaiser Gallery and Cocktail Bar, in Tremont which she opened in late 2020. She promised the some of the special events the gallery hosted (open mic poetry nights, drag bingo) in addition to 31 group and solo shows featuring around 130 local and national artists, would continue at other venues and that she would maintain an online presence. Kaiser, who moved to Cleveland shortly before opening the gallery, didn’t leave town though: she joined the staff of Heights Arts. The gallery’s last day was Saturday October 5.
Only it wasn’t. Kaiser has announced that she has sold the gallery to northeast Ohio filmmaker/photographer Sam Skelton, a Tremont resident for nearly a decade, who will run it under its current name through the end of the year before rebranding next year. He’s also planning a patio buildout to make more use of the space, while continuing to host art shows, live music and special events and serve cocktails and craft beer. He’ll host a soft opening at the gallery on Saturday November 30 @ 6pm-1am if you want to drop by and chat about his plans. You can reach him at wiredvisualltd@gmail.com.
