Local musicians Brent Ferguson and Tim Parnin founded Guitar Riot in 2012 to sell high-end guitars, as well as amps, effects pedals and other accessories for those who take their playing seriously. For many years, it had a showroom in the Artcraft Building in the Superior Arts District, as well as an online business. But the Artcraft Building was purchased by the city of Cleveland a couple of years ago for its new central police headquarters.
Ferguson and Parnin still had their online business but didn’t give up on the idea of a brick-and-mortar showroom where musicians could stop by, check out the stock and chat with the owners about the gear. Last year, they announced that they had purchased a building at 4517 Lorain Road in Ohio City to make a permanent home in a larger space. Since then, they’ve been doing the buildout, and now they’re just about ready to open the doors. They’ll have a soft opening on Tuesday November 19 for those eager to see what they’ve done and will announce grand opening events shortly.
