Fri 11/23-Sat 11/24 @ 7:30PM
You can’t have a bad time when you go to hear timbales player Sammy DeLeon and Latin Jazz ensembles of various sizes, from quartets to however many people he had squeezed on stage when I last saw him at Tri-C JazzFest (16? 17). His enthusiasm, his big smile and his infectious rhythms are irresistible.
You have two chances this weekend to catch those sunny vibes at the Market Garden Tasting Room when Deleon brings his Septet to the stage. Of course, his regular sidekick Jackie Warren will be there on the piano, along with bassist Elmer Arocho, percussionist Ray Guzman, Scott McKee and Garrett Folger on trumpets, and a sax or trombone player to be named later.
As if that’s not enough sunshine on a chilly November day, Cleveland-based Brazilian guitarist/vocalist Moises Borges will be opening, warming up the room with some bossa nova, samba and other tunes from his native Bahai.
