Photographer Bridget Caswell had a long career working for Cleveland’s John Glenn NASA Center; she recently began working at Case Western Reserve University.
But for the past half dozen or so years, when she hasn’t been on her day job, her nighttime activity has involved documented Cleveland’s thriving drag and burlesque communities. Three years ago, she published a book called Contrast Contoured, Portraits of Drag and Burlesque Performers in which she depicts them both in and out of their stage costumes and makeup.
Now that community will be honoring her at an event taking place at west side venue No Class called “Through the Lens: a Celebration of Bridget Caswell.”
It includes performances from northeast Ohio drag artists Ryder Slowly, Jace Blaze, Dusty Bucket and Dean Heartthrob, and burlesque performers Lola Loveletter and Cleveland Burlesque Queen Bella Sin.
It’s $10 at the door. Go here for more information.
