Cleveland Public Theatre’s Arabic Theatre Group Brings “The Outstretched Hand” Back for an Encore

Thu 11/7-Sat 11/9 @ 7:30PM

Sun 11/10 @ 3PM

Late last year, Cleveland Public Theatre presented a production called The Outstretched Hand, created by CPT’s executive artistic director Raymond Bobgan and Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi and directed by Bobgan. It reflected CPT’s dedication to representing a vast array of different communities within our community, in this case those of Arabic-speaking heritage. The play explores the conflicts that arise from different degrees of connection to that heritage. Now that production. Is back by popular demands for one weekend only.

“Mira wants to move out of her parent’s home without losing her connection,” the synopsis says. “Third Generation American Sami seeks travels overseas to connect with his roots. Hassan is breaking under the pressure of work, community commitments and his family needs here and overseas. These three young adults push against and pull towards their heritage, communities, and families, as they work towards becoming their full selves.”

All tickets are pay what you wish. Get them here. CPT is donating 50% of the ticket sales of these performances to support people in Palestine (Pious Projects), Lebanon (Red Cross), and Syria (Togetherness US).
