Earlier this year, the downtown branch of the Cleveland Public Library installed an immersive art exhibit called The Archive by Rebecca Louise Law in its ground floor Brett Hall. It featured long strands of more than half a million preserved flowers that visitors could walk amongst.

Now that show has a follow-up act. Brett Hall is now hosting a new interactive installation called The Band created by a Los Angeles-based duo who call themselves FriendsWithYou and produced by engineers from Pittsburgh’s DeepLocal.

“BAND,” we’re told, stands for “Biodigital Autonomous Neuro Dancers.” It features five robotic characters visitors can interact with or watch them do a choreographed dance to an original score by composer Norman Bandi . They tell us these robots have “journeyed to our planet from a distant dimension where sound is matter. A mix of biology and digital technology, the robots have come to share their healing power with humanity.”

The exhibit is free and open for visiting during regular library hours: 10am-5:30pm, Monday through Saturday. It will be on view through spring 2025.
