Cleveland’s Blue Lunch has been entertaining area audiences and filling dance floors for nearly 40 (!) years, performing all across Northeast Ohio at concerts, festival and swing dances and releasing eight albums. Their lively mix of jump blues, R&B, swing, and early rock & roll, propelled by a three-piece horn section, is nearly irresistible. The nine-member band features veteran members who’ve been with the band a long time; others, such as vocalist Maya Nicholson and recent Florida transplant guitarist/vocalist Billy Seward, are new. And they often bring guest musicians from other cities on board to liven up their shows and provide a little something different.
This week the band is celebrating those four decades with a special show at one of their regular stomping grounds, the BOP STOP. And they’ll continue their tradition of bringing in out-of-town guest musicians with Columbus guitarist/vocalist Sean Carney and Akron-based Hammond organ player Tim Longfellow joining them to make their already big sound even more expansive.
