Cleveland band Blackout Rose, which calls itself a “WorldRock/Afropunk Fusion of Unbridled Rock n’ Soul,” led by frontman Davidione Pearl, has started a project to help local musicians dealing with mental health issues and challenging living situations, called Cleveland Rocks for Musicians’ Health. And this weekend they’re hosting a fundraiser for the project at the Happy Dog in Gordon Square.
They say it “will be part of an ongoing effort to bridge the divide between healthcare access information and wellness workshops, to the musician community (and artists in general), that we may slow the swelling tide of self inflicted wounds and general depression/anxiety dysregulation within the community.”
Proceeds from the event will go to their partner organization, Stella Maris, Inc, the oldest addiction recovery and mental health treatment center in Cleveland.
Join Blackout Pearl, along with the Brian Bacon Band, Michael McFarland, DJ David Eons, Jinari Kemet, Andie Ferman, Ryan Hetrick, Chris Tuma and Corissa Bragg, to support better mental health for musicians. Get more information here. Get tickets here.
