Alex Bevan is one of Cleveland’s greatest musical treasures we should never take for granted. The folksinger began his career back in the late 60s, released his first album in 1971, and since then has released dozens more, filled with songs that combine wit and insight. And he keeps getting better. Now in his mid 70s, his voice is as strong as ever, his guitar playing is sparkling, and he is constantly dashing off new tunes that he combines in concert with old favorites, including his big local radio hit from the ’70s “Skinny Little Boy (from Cleveland, Ohio),” even if he’s not a skinny little boy anymore
He’s got a show coming up at the Beachland Tavern with Alex Bevan and the Gang of Fools — a roster of top-shelf veteran local musicians including guitarist Austin “Walkin’ Cane” Charanghat, Michael Stanley Band drummer Tom Dobeck, keyboard player Tim Longfellow and bassist Leonard DiCosimo. If don’t have anything else to do this evening, stop down and you’re guaranteed a night of beautiful songs performed by some of northeast Ohio’s best musicians
