Fri 11/8 @ 7:30-11PM
The Akron Art Museum’s current Glow: Neon and Light seems tailor-made for a party. It’s filled with lively pieces that use reflective materials and lighting — glass, mirrors, light bulbs, neon tubes, even old VHS tape cassettes — to produce their sculptural installations. The work in the show immerses visitors in a world of light emanating from the walls, floors and ceilings. Artists in the show include Sarah Blood, Mona Hatoum, Keith Lemley, Iván Navarro, Keith Sonnier and Cleveland’s own Jeffry Chiplis.
This week the museum is hosting a Glow Dance Party, described as a “sizzling electric dance party.” There’ll be a DJ spinning music for dance, a photo booth, glow-in-the-dark face painting (It’s still an 18+ event!) and hands-on screen printing — you can bring something to print on or use the paper provided. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Get tickets here.
