Visit Ashtabula’s 19 Covered Bridges During Covered Bridge Festival

Sat 10/12 @ 8AM-5PM

Sun 10/13 @ 8:30AM-5PM

One of Ashtabula County’s claims to fame is that it has the largest number of covered bridges in Ohio — 19 in all. And they come in a variety of five types, and multiple sizes and settings

Each year for four decades, the county has celebratd its Ashtabula Covered Bridge Festival to attract visitors to the area to tour the bridges, just as the fall colors are starting to appear.

The free festival takes place at the Ashtabula Fairgrounds (127 N. Elm Street) in Jefferson. There you’ll find entertainment, demonstrations of crafts such as a parade (1pm Saturday) glassblowing, contests, kids, games, food, bands, antique cars, a pancake breakfast and a church service Sunday morning, and official souvenirs as well as the map you’ll need for the self-guided tour and information about all the different types of bridges.
