The Cleveland Artifact Machine Will Dispense Original Art at Sandusky Cultural Center

Sun 10/20 @ 1-4PM

The idea for the Cleveland Artifact Machine (C.A.M.) came from R!ch Cihlar, one of the co-owners of E11even2 Gallery at 78th Street Studios, and it definitely has his quirky fingerprints all over it. It features a refitted 1960s cigarette machine that’s filled with cigarette-pack-sized small works of art, which people can purchase by putting $10 in the machine.

Now he’s taking the concept to the Sandusky Cultural Center once again, where Cleveland Artifact Machine IV opens on Sunday October 20, with a reception from 1-4pm. The work of 21 artists will be stocked in the machine including some well-known area artists such as Sean Kelly, George Kocar, Nina Vivian Huryn, Mark Yasenchack, e11even2 co-owner Billy Naininger and Cihlar himself. Gallery visitors can choose the artist’s slot, put their money in and get a piece of art (painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media) and a commemorative C.A.M. coin. In addition, “golden tickets” will be tucked inside a few of the boxes of art, good for a larger art work. And there’ll also be work on the walls of the gallery for a silent auction.

The show will be on view through November 24.
