Once again, the city of Kent is celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, with its Rainbow Weekend, three days packed with a variety of activities.
Things get in gear on Friday October 11 all across town with some art shows (the Queer Art Show at FJ Kluth Gallery, rainbow-themed attire at the Kent State Museum), a gender-affirming clothing swap at Sun in Leo, a coloring contest at Bent Tree Coffee, a rainbow market at Acorn Alley, all going on all day.The Rainbow Weekend Drag Race 5K steps out at 6pm and other evening activities include a free yoga class at Zenning, a Rainbow origami succulent workshop at Flourish, a free show by the 80’s Ladies at the Water Street Tavern, Drag Bingo at the Zephyr and an LGBTQ+ open mic night at Last Exit Books.
The art shows, coloring contest, clothing swap and Acorn Alley market continue on Saturday, which also offers events such as tarot card readings, a Pokemon-themed drag show at the Zephyr, Pride Trviai at Bell Tower Brewing, a Super Babes concert at Acorn Plaza and the Ladies Night Band Swiftie and Pink Pony Dance Party at the Water Street Tavern.
If you’re not too pooped to part after all that you can take in a drag brunch at Bell Tower Brewing and Drag Bingo and dinner at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent on Sunday.
