With many parents leery about kids going out trick or treating, or neighborhoods not being conducive to going door to door, cities, churches and organizations are offering alternative events where kids can wear their costumes, collect enough candy for a month’s worth of sugar shock and hang out to have some fun.
One such group is Summit Metro Parks which will be hosting a pair of “Truck-or-Treat” events, one Saturday October 19 at Silver Creek Metro Park, and one Saturday October 26 at Goodyear Heights Metro Park.
The event builds on those wildly popular and proliferating “touch a truck” events, with trucks and park service vehicles decorated for Halloween. Park district staff will be handing out treats, and there’ll be games to play and refreshments to enjoy. The whole family is urged to come in costume. It’s free and open to all.
