Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) held her third annual Legacy Celebration since taking office in 2021. Inviting guests to come dressed in black brought about the elegance in the crowd which ate, drank, danced, socialized and listened to Shontel talk about her work in office and the predecessors on whose shoulders the stands: Louis Stokes, Stephanie Tubbs Jones and Marcia Fudge (all had family in attendance). She also introduced the large group of current local officeholders in the crowd and shared the mic with Michelle Scott Taylor of College Now to talk about the work her organization does in providing scholarships for non-traditional students. The program opened with The Star Spangled Banner and “Lift Every Voice and Sing” performed by the Warrensville Heights High School Band and ended with guests taking to the floor for line dancing.
