Musicians Workshop Discussion Looks at Maintaining a Career Over Decades

Mon 10/21 @ 7-9PM

Reading the monthly Cleveland Rocks: Past Present Future professional development workshop for musicians this month is Afi Scruggs, a versatile musician/educator with deep experience in a variety of musical styles, who was recently named to run The Music Settlement’s new Creative Aging Department. She’ll talk about what she’s learned during her first year on the job and ask for input from veteran musicians about how they grow and maintain their musicmaking careers.

Following the one-hour discussion is the 2 x 4 songwriter showcase where four musicians perform two songs apiece. They include blues-based singer/guitarist Bob Frank, formerly of Blue Lunch and now a solo performer; songwriter/producer/musician MsReec Pearl; acoustic singer/songwriter Jenah Shank; and veteran actress/vocalist SaVon Bass, who fronts Motown, pop and jazz bands.

It takes place at the Cleveland Rocks shop in the Waterloo Arts District. It’s free and open to all. There’s limited space so get there early.
