It’ll be a long, loud night at the Agora when Cleveland’s favorite masked band, Mushroomhead, headlines its annual Halloween show. And few bands are more suited to doing a Halloween show without doing a specifically Halloween show than Mushroomhead.
Formed in 1993 (!) by drummer Steve Felton and some of his heavy metal compatriots to be a side project, the band initially wore costumes and masks to hide their identities. But their creatively macabre visuals and aggressive theatricality quickly became a major part of their appeal and by he end of their first decade the band had assembled an international following. They’ve outlived countless personnel changes and continue to produce their distinctive sound which blends metal, industrial, techno goth, prog and punk, while constantly evolving and adding new elements to the look of their show.
As usual with this show, they’ve got a whole lineup of openers including Upon This Burning Body, There Is No Us, Mind Incision, Bittersweet Revenge and Psycho Plantation.
