Local Musicians Get Together to Hold Benefit for Hurricane Victims

Wed 10/16 @ 7PM

We’ve been inundated with pictures of the unprecedented devastation in western North Carolina where Hurricane Helene wiped out vast swaths of mountain towns, an area where such massive hurricane damage was never imagined. It will likely take years or decades for the region to recover. The resources needed are vast.

Expect to see a lot of benefits cropping up to try to chip away at that mountain of help needed. One of those is HurricAID, organized by a group of local musicians and taking place at the Beachland Ballroom. Musicians committed to performing include Bent Strings, Marc Lee Shannon, Guy Pernetti, Grady Miller, Noah Budin, Tracy Marie, Cary Mathews, Matt Harmon, Rachel Brown & the Beatnik Cowboys, Rachel Shortt and Mark Freeman & the Elders.

All proceeds ($20 suggested donation, although you’re welcome to give more) go to Operation Airdrop, an organization of volunteer pilots that provides essential supplies in the wake of disasters, as well as takes part in search and rescue operations to supplement official government efforts. (Please don’t spread partisan attacks on what government agencies allegedly are or are not doing; this isn’t the time for that.)
