Immigrants Service Organization Shares Their Music and Culture at Benefit

Sat 10/19 @ 7-10PM

The US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants’ Cleveland Field Office is hosting a fundraiser called Reprise ’24: A Benefit to Celebrate Refugees through Music. The event will focus on sharing the things immigrants bring to this country that enrich our culture. They tell us that “By presenting artists resettled in the U.S. this event seeks to highlight and celebrate the tremendous, enduring creative spirit of refugees who have made this passage and seek to reconnect to a past.”

It will center around musical performances by Rahim AlHaj, a virtuoso oud player from Iraq, who came to the U.S. as a refugee in 2000 and settled in Arizona, and South Sudanese rapper/singer/actor/activist/ entrepreneur Emmanuel Jal, formerly a child soldier in his native country who now lives in Toronto. Local musical acts with also perform. There will be food from local refugee communities and the chance to meet and interact with immigrants. Tickets include food and two drink tickets. The event takes place at Cleveland Public Theatre. Go here for tickets.
