Sat 11/2 @ 8-11PM
The monthly Bainbridge Swing Dances at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls offer an opportunity for all sorts of people — families, couples, singles — to get out, have some fun, learn some dance steps, hear some great live music and meet some new people.
No expertise is required. Each evening starts at 8pm with a dance lesson so you’ll know all the basic steps once you step out on the floor. Regulars are always eager to help the newbies.
Then at 9pm, the live music starts and everyone hits the dance floor. Don’t worry about coming alone — in swing dancing, partners are swapped out all night long. This month, the music will be provided by the Radio Rhythm IDOLS, led by multi-instrumentalist Paul Kovac, who has led country/bluegrass bands such as Hillbilly Idol for decades and guitarist/vocalist/keyboard player Carrie King and featuring young Akron honky-tonk guitarist/vocalist Cory Grinder. This ensemble draws on a wide range of music with a danceable beat, including western swing, ’40s and ’50s R&B, rockabilly and Great American Songbook standards.
Admission is $15 at the door, $10 per child or $40 per family. Get more information here.
