Curator and Author Talk About Dolls at New WRHS Exhibit

Sat 10/19 @ 2-4PM

Recently, the Western Reserve Historical Society opened a new show that should fascinate little girls and their moms especially. All Dolled Up: 200 Years of Dolls and Miniatures features dolls, doll houses, miniatures and other toys — everything from 19th-century porcelain dolls to Barbie and American Girl dolls that today’s kids will immediately recognize, displayed with fashion and historical images from WRHS’s collection. The show even includes a play area where people can have a hands-on doll experience. It will be on display for a year.

This Saturday join WRHS curator Patty Edmonson and historian/writer/cultural critic Mary Mahoney for “All Dolled Up: Cookies, Coffee and Conversation.” Mahoney cohosts the Dolls of our Lives podcast, which works its way through the American Girl series, exploring the connections between the dolls and the eras they represent. And last year, she published a book called Dolls of Our Lives: Why We Can’t Quit American Girl. Mahoney and Edmonson will talk about the impact of American Girl dolls and afterwards, lead a tour of the show., Mahoney’s book will be available for purchase and signing.

The program is free with regular admission. Register to attend here.
